This checklist is for a feature you can actually see

Last checked: 6 October 2026

If a game, promotion, quiz or other participation feature is shown alongside live cricket on JioHotstar, deciding whether to join should begin with what is actually on that screen. This is a conditional privacy checklist, not a claim that a particular feature is running for a particular match, account, device, plan or location. It also does not reconstruct rules that are not displayed. Use the visible feature notice and its terms as the starting point, then decide whether the information and settings involved work for you.

Do not search for a game or assume one is live because a season announcement mentions fan engagement. A platform-level privacy notice describes how the service may handle information in different contexts; it is not a timetable or a specification for every live-cricket screen.

Start only when a participation panel, prompt or promotion is visibly offered to you. Check for a feature name, operator and route to terms or a privacy notice. If they are absent, do not fill the gaps from a past campaign or general platform policy. A decision-first approach to data also underpins this fan-data governance primer.

What is confirmed about the India home season—and what is not

Cricket West Indies listed India v West Indies, 1st T20I, in Lucknow for 6 October 2026. Separately, JioStar’s 25 August 2026 home-season announcement said 22 matches would run on JioHotstar and Star Sports Network, with the West Indies series between 27 September and 17 October.

That release also mentioned an upgraded Jeeto Dhan Dhana Dhan designed for deeper fan engagement during live matches. It is a season announcement, not proof that an interactive feature is enabled for this T20I, every viewer, or your screen. It does not establish rules, prizes, scoring, cost, eligibility, data fields or a partner for any feature.

Before you tap “Join”: identify the feature owner and its rules

A visible invitation is the time to slow down. Look for the operator, feature-specific terms and any linked privacy notice. Before entering information, check who can participate, whether there is a charge, the deadline, what is offered, and whether a separate account or consent is requested.

Do not infer answers from a button label. “Join” does not tell you whether the feature is run solely by the platform or involves another organisation. If terms are absent or unclear, leaving it unopened is reasonable. Clear ownership and understandable information are basic trust conditions, as explored in the community-platform trust guide.

Read the data prompt as a choice, not a footnote

JioHotstar’s India Privacy Notice says that, when people use platform features such as game play, information they may provide can include game-play data, preferences, account settings, user-generated content and opt-in choices. The notice also describes automatically collected information about platform use and the device used to access the service.

The key qualifier is “may.” That policy-level list does not show that every feature asks for every category, or that a viewer has agreed to provide it. Read the feature prompt and distinguish required from optional fields. For an optional request, consider the stated purpose before choosing it. This is a privacy-reading habit, not legal advice or a prediction about a specific implementation.

Check the controls on the device you are using

The Privacy Notice identifies device settings as the control for interest-based advertising on mobile, tablet and streaming-media devices. It says that, after an opt-out, ads may still appear but should not be tailored to interests. That is different from a promise of an ad-free experience.

The notice also says push notifications can be enabled or disabled through device notification settings. Configurations and updates can change these controls, so check the device you are using rather than relying on a generic menu path. They do not prove a live-cricket feature uses a particular permission.

Promotions may involve another privacy notice

JioHotstar’s notice says joint promotions may require personal information to be shared with third parties so the parties can coordinate and fulfil an incentive. It also says those third parties are responsible for their own privacy practices.

This is a general possibility, not evidence that a cricket promotion has a partner or shares information. If a visible feature names another organisation, read its notice alongside the platform notice before proceeding. Look for the exact feature’s explanation rather than assuming every promotion works alike.

A parent or guardian pause for younger viewers

The Privacy Notice says JioHotstar does not knowingly permit anyone under 18 to register or provide personally identifying information. It also says that people under 18 may use the service only with a parent or legal guardian’s involvement, supervision and approval.

That is a platform policy boundary, not contest eligibility rules. It does not tell us whether a feature has an age gate, its terms or whether a prize is offered. A younger viewer who sees a prompt should involve a parent or guardian before providing information or accepting terms.

What this article cannot tell you about the match

No feature-specific terms for the India–West Indies fixture were located in the primary sources reviewed for this article. Accordingly, this checklist cannot confirm that a game, promotion or Jeeto Dhan Dhana Dhan is available, or say how any feature scores, ranks, charges, selects or rewards participants.

It also does not establish match access, rights, subscription status, device support, camera plans, data feeds, latency, artificial intelligence, DRS, Hawk-Eye or any other match technology. The International Cricket Council’s general DRS material says detailed third-umpire protocols sit in each competition’s playing conditions; a general explanation is not proof for this fixture. Readers seeking the separate, non-match-specific delivery question can use the general live-cricket streaming guide.
